Unfolding - Contemporary Japanese Kimono Portrait Series

The Contemporary Japanese Kimono Portrait series explores the elegance and symbolism of traditional Japanese kimono through a modern artistic lens. In these portraits, the timeless beauty of kimono culture meets bold colour, expressive brushwork, and contemporary composition.

Each artwork celebrates the kimono not only as clothing, but as a powerful visual language—carrying stories of identity, heritage, and transformation. The flowing fabrics, layered patterns, and vibrant palettes create portraits that feel both culturally rooted and strikingly modern.

Inspired by Japanese aesthetics and contemporary portrait painting, this series blends tradition with modern expression. The works highlight the quiet strength, grace, and individuality embodied in the figure, while reimagining kimono as part of a living, evolving visual culture.

These colourful contemporary portraits make captivating pieces of modern wall art, bringing both elegance and energy into interior spaces. Ideal for collectors who appreciate Japanese-inspired art, figurative portrait painting, and expressive contemporary artwork.

Original paintings and fine art prints are available, including museum-quality giclée paper prints and canvas prints, with optional framing.
