This painting was inspired by a deeply personal moment when my father, who lives in Japan, was hospitalized following a stroke, recently.
Though his condition is not serious, it led me to reflect on my distance from home, the time I have missed with my family, and the uncertainty of future moments together.
Having moved out at 19, and now a parent myself, this experience prompted a journey of self-reflection, revealing what I deeply long for in life.
The division of colors symbolizes the past and future, both equally beautiful and layered with depth.
The cat represents me—standing at the threshold, trying to make sense of the past while reaching toward a hopeful and meaningful future.
No matter the circumstances, I long for inner peace and the courage to move forward, embracing life’s experiences with an open heart.
